| 内容記述 | A study on E. W.BOVARD's hypothese was done by conducting the following synthetical experiments on rars. The rats were, after their weaning, divided into three group, which were the pet group (P-group), the mistreat group (M-group), and the control group (C-group). The rats of the P-group and the M-group were, later, handled during 35 days in the way of petting and mistreat, respectively. The changes in body weight (muscle growth) and tail length (skeleton growth) were measured every five days. The rats of the C-group were not handled. The rats of each of the above mentioned three group were further divided into 2 subgroups A and B randomly. For the A-group, the activity and the escape-avoidance (with 40V AC) were measured, and the electric shock stress (with 100V AC) was applied three times per day during 3 days. In the case of the B-group, the running speed on straight course and maze were measured. All rats were, then, guillotined, and their adrenal's weight and lever enzymic activiy per wet weight were measured. The following results were obtained. 1) There were suggestive differences between the handled groups and the control group in the change of adrenal weight. This suggests that early handling raises the stress threshold value. 2) Although two variables in physical growth of the matured rats showed significant differences among the three P,M, and C-groups, the C-group showed the best growth. This result disagreed with the suthors' assummption. However, on P and M-group, interaction between handling and growth was found to be suggesitive on skeleton growth and be significant on muscle growth. That is, growth for the P-group in-creased more evidently during handling when compared with the M-group. 3) The extent of the activity with the turning apparatus in both one hour and one day did not show a good agreement with the author's assumption. However, the weight of excrements gave suggestive difference among the three groups. The C-group gave the largest amount of the weight and the P-group had the samllest. 4) The number of the rats giving up in the learning experiment was smallest for the P-group, and largest in the case of the C-group. This suggests that the P-group is more active than the C-group. Learning measurement, also, had such tendency that the P-group was best. However this measures had too large variance to do further statistic consideration. 5) The value of lever enzymic activity per wet weight had not significant difference among the three groups. From this view-point, the lever enzymic activity per wet weight would not be an adequate expeimental indicator. | |||||||||||
